a hedgehogs quills are a lot less dangerous than a porcupines. yes obviously they r smaller but also more flexible, and porcupines can also shoot them out like a projectile, when hedgehogs can only make them stand up. and they only stand them up when they feel threatened, but if theyre comfortable, they lay theyre quills back and u can pet them.

no they fall out when the hedgehog is growing, like losing baby teeth for grown up ones, but not when they get scared. When scared they just curl into a ball and hope you go away
