This only applies to ferrets who haven't been descented, which surgically removes their scent glands and sacs. We have four male ferrets, and the only time they have odor issues is when we are lax in keeping up with cleaning their litter boxes.

Cats smell too, if you don't clean up after them. Same thing. Yeah, if you don't clean their litter box daily and let them crap wherever they want to, your place will start to stink, but if you actually watch them when they're out and clean their cage regularly, they're fine.

my friend had a ferret who used to turn on the water in the bathtub until someone went in, filled the tub up and let him swim. they kinda stink afterwards...I mean...ferrets tend to smell weird in general, but they really smell later. still adorable.....teehee.
